LOCAL EXPERTISE MAKES BUYING A HOME EASIER

Utah is where you will find the Greatest Snow on Earth.  Utah is also home to diverse skiing opportunities with 10 wonderful ski resorts within a short drive of each other.

Park City, Utah is home to 3 world class ski resorts.

Park City Mountain Resort is a ski resort in Park City, Utah, located 34 miles (55 km) east of Salt Lake City. The resort has been a major tourist attraction for skiers from all over the United States, as well as a main employer for many of Park City’s citizens. Park City, as the resort is often called by locals, contains several training courses for the U.S. Ski Team, including slalom and giant slalom runs. During the 2002 Winter Olympics the resort hosted the snowboarding events and the men’s and women’s alpine giant slalom events.

The Canyons is the newest addition to the Park City team of ski resorts.  Owned by Talisker Corporation, the Canyons has 19 chairlifts, 4,000 acres (14 km²) of skiable terrain and an average of 355″ of snow each winter, Canyons is the largest ski and snowboard resort in Utah. The base area is located 32 miles (51 km) from the Salt Lake City International Airport, accessed via Interstate 80, and is four miles (7 km) from Main Street in Park City, along State Route 224.  In the summer of 2010, Canyons initiated sweeping upgrades designed to ‘transform’ the resort. The base terminal of Red Pine Gondola was relocated to create a new gathering area called Ski Beach. Two new high speed quads were installed, including Orange Bubble Express, the first chairlift in North America with heated seats. The addition of Iron Mountain Express opened 300 acres of new terrain. A dozen dining venues were added or upgraded, including The Farm at Canyons, which was named Best New Restaurant in Utah in 2012. A 20-million-US-gallon (76,000 m3) snowmaking pond was installed, significantly enhancing the resort’s snowmaking capacity and allowing for opening-day skiing to the resort village for the first time in 2011.

Park City is also home to the number one ski resort.  Deer Valley Resort has been voted the number one ski resort by the readers of Ski Magazine for 5 consecutive years.  The resort, known for its upscale amenities, is consistently ranked among the top ski resorts in North America.  Deer Valley was a venue site during 2002 Winter Olympics, hosting the freestyle moguls, aerial, and alpine slalom events. It also regularly hosts competitions for the International Ski Federation.  With a number of other large ski resorts nearby, Deer Valley competes by catering to a more upscale audience than its neighbors, offering amenities such as free ski valets, free parking shuttles, fine dining and boutique shopping in the main lodge. The resort’s mid-mountain lodge, the Stein Eriksen Lodge, offers luxury accommodations and spa facilities. Stein Eriksen, its gold medalist namesake, is host of the lodge and director of skiing at the resort.  Deer Valley uses more grooming equipment than other Wasatch ski areas, and limits access to avoid overcrowding; as of 2006, the resort limited ticket sales to 6,500 per day.[1] Deer Valley’s total uphill lift capacity of 46,500 skiers per hour is approximately 50% higher than the capacity of its larger neighbors Park City Mountain Resort and The Canyons. Deer Valley has 21 chairlifts, including 11 high-speed detachable quads and an enclosed 4-passenger gondola.
